I am a really lucky person. I have a lot of family and friends who love and care about me. Sadly, so many people around the world aren’t blessed with 2 solid, loving, present parents. I don’t mean this to come across badly, but it is a fact, and I am acknowledging it.
This week I want to talk about the word “Support”. Really, “moral support”, but I shortened it to “Support.”
I suppose this one is pretty straight forward. There is the old saying that you are the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Only you truly know this, but you have to ask yourself: are those the people you want to spend your time and help you be your best? Whether they are friends, family, or lovers, you have to recognize that and make changes towards what is best for you.
If not, you have to find those people. It may take time for some, it may be quick for others. But you have to find people who will push you and be there for you when the times are going tough, when you need encouragement, a laugh, or just someone to listen.
I have spent quite a bit of time in the hospital in the past, and something I realized is that the people who are there for you in crisis are the real ones. We are currently in a crisis situation around the world with the Coronavirus pandemic, so pay attention right now. Who’s there for you?
Along the same line is family. During my time in the hospital, my parents were there every single day for 52 days straight. Every. Single. Day. Now I want to say that I feel very lucky and blessed to have had this support. My sister was also there quite frequently as well. The value of this support cannot be overlooked and ignored when you are going through something tough. Everyone matters.
Now what happens when you feel like you have nobody? Reach out! During this tough time, and anytime after, you can reach out to me if you ever need anything. Even if it is just asking for some fire songs!
Go find your people.
